For many years, the Fruitport community has gathered to hold a Veterans’ Memorial Day Parade to honor both local vets and those from around the country. Even though COVID-19 shut down the parade in 2020, and hampered organizers again in 2021, Larry Baxter of Baxter’s Towing was able to organize a Veterans’ Memorial Day Drive, along the parade route, instead.
The Drive consisted of many veterans, local VFW posts, private individuals, Jeep 4-Wheel-Drive Clubs, and even a few congress-people, driving their vehicles around the normal parade route. Everyone participated in social distancing, to make sure the event stayed safe and fun.
Baxter was very pleased with the large turnout in support of our veterans.
“Thank you” from Larry to all who participated in the Drive. And “Thank you” to all the dedicated service people, past and present, who have kept our country, and our community, safe.
