Mary Weimer

I only knew Mary a little bit, but I knew her well enough to figure out that she was a pleasant, caring Christian. I had no idea, until I went to her funeral, what an accomplished person she was, too. I found out quite a bit, but I really wish I could have known her better while she was with us.

From what was said at her funeral, Mary probably wouldn’t have appreciated this article about her, since it’s going to be braggy.

But I think she deserves it!

Here are some things her family shared with those who attended her funeral:

“Mary was born January 26, 1950, the daughter of Robert Moore and Barbara Davis. She graduated from Mona Shores High School. She married William Weimer on October 2, 1976. Mary was a very intelligent woman, earning three masters’ degrees from Western Michigan University. She taught English and various other courses at Dollar Bay, Muskegon Business College, Muskegon Community College, the prison in Muskegon and White Lake Baptist School. She worked at Teledyne and International Aid as well as for the Fruitport Area News. She enjoyed reading, crosswords, knitting, bird watching, and spontaneous car rides. Mary was an energetic, positive and confident woman with a great sense of humor.”

In addition to all this, Mary was very passionate about the Fruitport library. She served as the Secretary of the Fruitport District Library Board, from 2017 until she passed away earlier this year.

Mary touched a good many lives and did a good bit more for the community than I know. But one thing I know for sure: She was incredibly talented and loved, and will be dearly missed.
